I usually don't write much on this blog but a new year begins for me and maybe it's time for some changes, huh ? Why a new year ? Because yesterday it was my rezzday ! (3 years, Champagne !) And the new Strawberry Singh's meme is perfect to celebrate this.

Meme Instructions: List 5 pieces of advice you would give to a newcomer that has just joined Second Life.

1. Right after sign in, if you feel totally lost : learn. If tons of questions pop into your head, go and ask people around you, I'm sure you will find someone happy to help you, but please be nice and polite, Don't start asking for money or worst, for sex,,,it's not the best way to make friends.
If you find nobody, search outside SL, read articles, take a look at blogs, watch tutorials, related to your first questions. You will be more confortable when you come back inworld, looking for more answers, (asking people again, exploring (don't forget to read notecards you could get when you arrive to a new place), taking classes,,,,)  Be curious, you will be clever ;)
And when someone give you advices, take them in consideration (applying them or not).

2. Don't accept things from strangers XD, yes, like when you were a child. There are a lot of nice people but there are also a lot of griefers, don't expect to get awesome things from these random gifts.

3. If you find a friend, don't spam him/her ! You met some cool people, you spent a little time with them and now they are in your friendlist, perfect.  It's not a reason to leap on them each time you see them online ! They have other friends, their own activities or maybe they just want to be alone. Say hello sparingly and see if they are available. It's not because they don't want to talk with you this time that they don't like you:)
And please, don't send random requests to everybody you see without even talking to them,

4. Don't be afraid to buy free things. When I started I thought it was really weird and I hesitated to click on this « buy » button/option, but I've found out it was something normal, and it's really free. Nothing bad will happen as long as you buy those free items in honest stores inworld or on the marketplace.

5. If you decide to put some money in SL to buy things, save your transaction history (on the official site, after login, in your account menu). If there is a problem, or if you have a question about an item you purchased, it will be a « proof » that you really purchased it honestly and most of designers will ask for these info.
The transaction history is saved only for the last 30 days on the site, so save it somewhere on your computer (download XLS) on a regular basis.
